MTN FINALLY AGREES TO PAY $1.7 BILLION (N 300 ) FINE

MTN has finally agreed to pay the $1.7 billion fine imposed on them by the Nigerian communication commission (NCC). The fine was imposed on MTN for their failure to terminate phone lines on their network that were not registered.
The south African firm which happens to be one of the leading telecoms companies in Nigeria, have been engaging the NCC in legal battles in order to have the fine lifted or reduced. It will be recalled the telecom giants were already fined $5 billion over unregistered sim cards. The dispute which has been goin on for months now, has finally come to an end with NCC becoming the victor and MTN, the vanquished.
