Volkswagen is planing to launch 30 electric cars by 2025. Mathias Mulla the CEO of Volkswagen made this known during a press conference in Germany today. PCmag.com reports.

During a press conference in the company's home town of Wolfsburg, Germany, Volkswagen CEO Matthias Müller today said the company plans to launch more than 30 "fully electric new vehicles" by 2025. By then, VW expects to be selling about 2-3 million purely electric vehicles a year. This will account for an estimated 25 percent of the company's total sales volume, he added.
"The combustion engine remains important," Müller said. "It will be with us for some time to come and will still account for around two-thirds of the new vehicles market volumes in 2030. But that also means the other third will be electrically powered."
In October, Volkswagen said it will focus more heavily on EVs in the future, with models like the Phaeton among those scheduled for an electric vehicle. In January, VW then showed off an all-electric concept van called the BUDD-e, which the company said could get 233 miles on a charge and be charged to 80 percent in 30 minutes.
