Despite her failure to win a 22nd Grand Slam title,Serena Williams has replaced Maria Sharapova as the world's highest-paid female athlete. Although she was unable
to win the title at Roland Garros which would have tied her with the record set by Steffi Graf, the 34 year old tennis icon still have something to be happy about as she has earned $28.9 over the last 12 months, incidentally unseating Maria Sharapova. Sharapova who seem not to be having the best of times in her career in the past months, had held the title for 11 years. Serena who has 21 Grand Slam titles to her name, has made a career prize of $77.6million more than twice as much as any other athlete.
