Former world bank VP and Coordinator of BringBackOurGirls movement Oby Ezekwezili was today arrested by the Federal Capital Territory command of the Nigerian police. The former world bank VP who broke the news via her twitter handle was arrested alongside other members of her movement. according to media report, Oby was and her members were arrested during a sit-out at the unity foundtain in Abuja.
According Sahara reporters, police sources said Oby and other protesters who embarked on a protest today were rounded up and taken to the FCT police headquarters because they had not been granted permission to embark on a protest today. Later on, a police source at the office of the IG hinted that the IG of police Ibrahim Idris has given orders for their release. After her release,she told news men that the police didn't tell them the reason for the arrest.
“Without stating the reason for our arrest and detention, Commissioner of Police at the FCT Command, CP Bello has asked us to be let out of their station,” she tweeted.“We insisted on a formal charge and release but his response? “I am the commissioner and now release you to go.”
